I am a Virginia State Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT). I received my undergraduate degree in Human Development and Family Studies from Cornell University, and my Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Virginia Polytechnic Institute and State University. I have nearly ten years of experience in providing outpatient therapy to children, adolescents, individuals, couples, and families. I use a competency, strength based approached within a systems model. I also work from a cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) framework and employ expressive therapy (such as play therapy) interventions which are particularly effective with children and individuals who are not as comfortable communicating verbally. I have particular interest in and professional experience with substance abuse, sexual abuse, trauma, loss, and general mood disorders (such as anxiety and depression). I am a Clinical Member of the American Association of Marriage and Family Therapy (AAMFT), and a member of Northern Virginia Licensed Professional Counselors (NVLPC).
